Langtry
The dusty little town of Lantry is located near the Pecos River in West Texas about half way between Del Rio and Big Bend NP. It was founded in 1882 when the Southern Pacific Railroad obtained access facilities to obtain water for it's locomotives from the Torres Family. The town's most famous resident, Judge Roy Bean - a saloon owner and Justice of the Peace, established a notorious legal code called "The Law West of the Pecos." The town began to fade away in the 1920's when the railroad was rerouted.
