Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP - Colorado
A beautiful place of jagged rock, cactus, and soaring depths. At its deepest, this dark and narrow canyon drops over 2,700 feet, at its deepest, to meet the fast running Gunnison River.
The Gunnison makes it's 48 mile coarse through the canyon dropping 34 ft per mile. Though the Black Canyon of the Gunnison may lack the scale of Grand Canyon, it makes up for it in it's dramatic, narrow, and deep gash in the rugged mountains of central, Western Slope Colorado. "Deep, Steep, and Narrow" is the apt way the National Park describes this awesome place!
